The highly-anticipated Angry Birds Space game is now officially available on supported platforms, including iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The game costs $0.99 (0.79 EUR) for 3.5-inch screens, and $2.99 (2.39 EUR) for the 10-inch Apple iPad.
Finnish development studio Rovio is proud to announce today that “the #1 mobile game of all time blasts off into space!”
“After a giant claw kidnaps their eggs, the Angry Birds chase it into a wormhole and find themselves floating in a strange new galaxy – surrounded by space pigs! Luckily the Angry Birds have super powers of their own…” says the developer.
According to the official iTunes description, Angry Birds Space is packed with “60 interstellar levels on planets and in zero gravity, resulting in spectacular gameplay ranging from slow-motion puzzles to lightspeed destruction.”
“With regular free updates, new in-app purchases, brand new birds, brand new superpowers, and a whole galaxy to explore, the sky is no longer the limit!” Rovio adds.
Other key features trick shots using planets’ gravity, new in-app purchases, hidden bonus levels, and some beautifully detailed backgrounds.
Angry Birds Space is also available on Android platforms, where the game is free. However, to justify their purchase on iOS platforms, Rovio is throwing in an exclusive game feature called Danger Zone, via in-app purchase. It comes with 30 of the most difficult levels ever, say the developers.
The equivalent of Mighty Eagle in the original Angry Birds, Space Eagles allow you to open a wormhole of destruction. Using Space Eagles you must aim carefully “to wreak havoc on the pigs.” You can either earn Space Eagles through gameplay, or you can buy it via in-app purchase.
There are also new goals and achievements in the new Angry Birds Space. The game is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later (4.2 on the iPad).
