Apple has confirmed to a blog that its five-dollar iPhoto app has been embraced by over 1 million iOS customers worldwide in roughly two weeks since its release to the public. | ||
Launched in tandem with the third-generation iPad, the iOS version of iPhoto works with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad (3rd generation) and iPad Wi-Fi + 4G and requires iOS 5.1 or later. The app brings Multi-Touch to photography to iOS customers who can now pluck five bucks (3.99 EUR) and start browsing, editing and sharing their photos on their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch anywhere. Two weeks since its inception on iDevices, iPhoto now has 1 million users. That’s not downloads, Jim Dalrymple warns. The Loop’s editor spoke with Apple, who confirmed the numbers to him yesterday, March 21st. “Apple told me today that its newest iOS app, iPhoto, hit 1 million users in less than 10 days after its release. It’s important to note that figure is users, not downloads. It’s quite possible that one user downloaded the app multiple times, but Apple isn’t counting those, only the unique users.” iPhoto is a universal app, optimized for both iPhone and iPad. It lets you create cinematic slideshows of your photos with only a few taps, and you can post your works directly to Facebook or Flickr and view your friends’ comments on your photos. Owners of multiple Apple devices can “beam” photos between their iPhone and iPad, or they can use AirPlay to stream photos and slideshows to their HD TV set over a wireless connection via Apple TV. Finally, the app is also AirPrint enabled, meaning users can remotely print any of their favorite photos whenever there’s a supported printer in sight. |
