We have all heard that Jelly Bean would be the next version of Android (Android 5.0) and it may be unveiled in June 2012 at Google I/O, with actual deployment at fall this year. More rumors peg Jelly Bean as launching in Q3 2012 and if it’s true, we might see the new version arrive between July and September. This would be slightly less than a year after the release of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), which was released in October 2011. The timing may seem a bit hasty, considering Ice Cream Sandwich has yet to be used on most Android devices. Today, there are only a few devices that actually updated to Android 4.0. After Q3 2012, more ICS devices will be tossed in the market and the peak of the Android 4.0 usage could be reached somewhere at the end of the year.
Still, we only hear rumors at this stage and when we follow common sense, it would stick to the usual annual cycle to allow the earlier version of Android to be integrated with the market properly. Details on Jelly Beans are still unclear these days, but there are whispers about support for webtop service. Observers are publishing wish-lists for Android 5.0, which includes; fully-featured, Siri-like virtual assistant, better integration to cloud storage (Google Drive) and more personalization options. Many also wish for a complete integration with Google Voice, which allows owners to make calls over the Internet connection.
